Welcome to Linton Sails, your premier destination for sailmaking and canvas work in Wellington.
As a family-operated business founded in 1997, we take pride in creating top-quality sails, providing expert service, and offering innovative fabric solutions. With our wealth of experience, we are well-equipped to offer practical assistance in resolving any sailing challenges and ensuring our clients hit the water with minimal hassle.
Linton Sails emerged as a result of a restructure within another sail company, presenting a golden opportunity for us to embark on an entrepreneurial journey. With the support of two trusted friends, we established our original site at Chaffers Marina, where we operated until 2011. This prime location allowed us to conveniently cater to the local boating community while extending a warm welcome to visiting sailors in need of assistance.
When the wharf where we were situated underwent redevelopment, we temporarily operated from a cramped garage at home. Despite the space limitations, we remained committed to our craft, often employing creative solutions such as spreading sails on the footpath just outside our door.
In 2015, we relocated to our current site in Rongotai, which provides us with ample space to handle a wide range of sail-related projects. Our loft is now shared with AQ Bags, a company specialising in designing and producing practical bags for everyday living. You can explore their collection at www.aqbags.co.nz.
Throughout our journey, numerous team members have played integral roles in supporting our growth. Witnessing their subsequent achievements in the sailing world fills us with immense pride, knowing that Linton Sails served as their launching pad.
Notable highlights include our involvement in the restoration and competition of Blackfun, a Davidson-designed Quarter Tonner. Additionally, we had the honour of serving as the Sailmaker for the Dongfeng Race Team during their victorious 2017-18 Volvo Ocean Race campaign.
At Linton Sails, we are dedicated to delivering excellence in sailmaking, and we look forward to serving you with passion and expertise.
